PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA | LIK MOSS

INTERVIEW TERRELL “REALIFE” BLACK

VALIDATED: Being from Philly, what’s your earliest memory of hip hop culture?

LIK MOSS: My earliest memory of hip-hop was Major Figgas. Them being from my neighborhood and all, they were the celebrities.

VALIDATED: How did you get your start as an artist?

LIK MOSS: I’m really just getting started but I came home to OBH already being a household name. I just had to rap and see if the people liked it. The platform was built already.

VALIDATED: Which mc’s influenced your flow and what if anything did you “borrow” from them?

LIK MOSS: It was a member of Major Figgas named Lil Rucie and the LOX. That’s all I listened to growing up. I took a lot of Rucie style.

VALIDATED: “Original Block Hustlaz”, what can you tell us about it?

LIK MOSS: Original Block Hustlaz is AR-Ab’s rap group that he made into a legit label.

VALIDATED: Your upcoming project “Good Book”, produced entirely by Crew 7, what can you tell us about it?

LIK MOSS: It’s honestly my best work to me. Production is incredible and the message is needed. That’s why I titled it “Good Book”. It’s like the road map of life.

VALIDATED: What’s the mood of the project?

LIK MOSS: The mood is simple, Philadelphia threw my eyes so sometimes it’s happy, sometimes it’s sad, sometimes it’s dangerous and sometimes it’s safe. It’s full of knowledge the whole way through.

VALIDATED: What’s your favorite record off the project and why?

LIK MOSS: Well I haven’t yet decided. Every track is equally important I believe.

VALIDATED: How does “Good Book” differ from your previous albums?

LIK MOSS: The message. The process was different, working with C.R.E.W.7. The creativity in the room was phenomenal. Crafting the sound of every song as a collective was new to me.

VALIDATED: As an artist what do you feel your responsibility is to hip hop?

LIK MOSS: I feel like I owe hip-hop REAL. Just being a real man. The definition of real changes depending on who you talk to but a REAL MAN is always a real man. That’s what we need more of, not ganstas, shooters, steppers, but people who handle and conduct their business as men.

VALIDATED: Philly seems to breed a different type of mc, what would you contribute that too?

LIK MOSS: The water I guess. Lol

VALIDATED: What’s next for Lik Moss?

LIK MOSS: Greatness!

VALIDATED: Where can the readers support you on social media?

LIK MOSS: @likmoss_obhgg (Instagram) and LikMossTelevision (YouTube)
