FEED THE LIONS VOL. 2: KHUJO
INTERVIEW TERRELL “REALIFE” BLACK
A MEMBER OF THE LEGENDARY GOODIE MOB, KHUJO HAS BEEN CONTINUOUSLY PROVIDING A PLATFORM FOR UP AND COMING RAPPERS IN GEORGIA. WITH THE FOLLOW UP INSTALLMENT TO “FEED THE LIONS, VOLUME 1 RELEASED IN NOVEMBER 2019, KHUJO’S RECENT RELEASE OF “FEED THE LIONS, VOLUME 2 IS MORE OF THE SAME, SHOWCASING MORE OF GEORGIA’S UP AND COMING TALENT. THE 14 TRACK ALBUM STARTS OFF WITH AN INTRODUCTION FROM ATLANTA, GEORGIA SPOKEN WORD ARTIST BIG RUBE TO SET THE TONE. IT INCLUDES KHUJO’S SOLO RECORD “CURSED” AND KHUJO ALSO RECRUITS ANDRE THE TRUTH, FELLOW GOODIE MOB MEMBER T-MO AND WEST COAST HIP HOP LEGEND SNOOP DOGG FOR THE “PAINT WHERE IT AIN’T” RECORD. THE ALBUM IS A MUST LISTEN TO FROM START TO FINISH. VALIDATED RECENTLY CHOPPED IT UP WITH THE LEGEND REGARDING THE DIFFICULTY OF COMING FROM THE SOUTH AND BREAKING THROUGH INTO A NEW YORK DOMINATED RAP GAME INITIALLY, “FEED THE LIONS, VOL. 2, A NEW GOODIE MOB ALBUM COMING SOON AND MORE.
“GOODIE MOB STANDS FOR THE GOOD DIE MOSTLY OVER BULLSHIT. AND YOU TAKE ONE “O” AWAY AND IT MEANS “GOD IS IN EVERY MAN OF BLACKNESS.” - KHUJO
VALIDATED MAGAZINE: BEING FROM ATLANTA, GEORGIA, WHAT'S YOUR EARLIEST MEMORY OF HIP HOP CULTURE.
KHUJO: WHEN I SEEN “KRUSH GROOVE”, “BEAT STREET”, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING? BREAKIN’, ALL THAT MAN. WHEN I SEEN THAT, THAT'S WHEN I WAS KIND OF LIKE INFLUENCED BY HIP HOP. AND I CAN REMEMBER WHEN CURTIS BLOW AND THE FAT BOYS CAME TO MY MIDDLE SCHOOL, WAS SOUTHWEST MIDDLE SCHOOL, MAN. WHEN I WAS IN LIKE THE SEVENTH GRADE, YOU FEEL WHAT I'M SAYING? SO I WAS DEFINITELY INFLUENCED BY HIP HOP. BUT I CAN REMEMBER LIKE IN THE FOURTH GRADE, WHEN I FIRST HEARD GLADYS KNIGHT’S “MIDNIGHT TRAIN TO GEORGIA”. BUT YEAH, HIP HOP, I WAS INFLUENCED BY HIP HOP MAN IN MIDDLE SCHOOL, MAN RIGHT OFF THE RIP.
VALIDATED: NICE. SO FOR THOSE THAT DON'T KNOW, WHAT'S THE MEANING BEHIND THE GROUP'S NAME, GOODIE MOB?
KHUJO: OH YEAH, GOODIE MOB STANDS FOR THE GOOD DIE MOSTLY OVER BULLSHIT. AND YOU TAKE ONE “O” AWAY AND IT MEANS “GOD IS IN EVERY MAN OF BLACKNESS”. SO WHEN WE SAY THE GOOD DIE MOSTLY OVER BULLSHIT, YOU KNOW, BACK IN THE NINETIES, WE SEEN THE OVER FLUX, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING BY OUR PEOPLE DYING AT AN EARLY AGE MAN. AND IT JUST HAPPENED TO BE OVER SOME NONSENSE MAN. MIGHT BE FIGHTING OVER AN ARGUMENT OVER A GIRL OR OVER SOMETHING MATERIAL. SO IT WAS A CYCLE THAT WAS GOING ON. THAT'S WHAT THE MEANING OF THE NAME GOODIE MOB WAS, MAN. AND THEN WHEN CEELO CAME IN AND JUST KIND OF MANICURED IT A LITTLE BIT. AND WE TOOK ONE “O” AWAY FROM GOODIE AND IT WAS LIKE, “GOD IS IN EVERY MAN OF BLACKNESS”, MEANING THAT, IT'S SOME TYPE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IN US SOMEWHERE. YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING? WE JUST GOTTA FIND IT MAN IN EACH OF THEM.
VALIDATED: NO, I DEFINITELY CAN DIG THAT. SO YOU ALL ACTUALLY CAME INTO A NEW YORK DOMINATED RAP GAME AT THE TIME. HOW DIFFICULT WAS IT TO BREAK THROUGH?
KHUJO: IT WAS JUST LIKE, UH, A TOUGH LOVE THING FOR US IN NEW YORK BECAUSE WE KNEW NEW YORK WAS LIKE THE BIRTHPLACE OF HIP HOP. AND IF YOU COULDN'T REALLY MAKE IT UP IN NEW YORK, YOU COULDN'T REALLY MAKE IT NOWHERE. BUT LIKE THAT FIRST TIME WE WERE IN NEW YORK WITH OUTKAST AT THE SOURCE AWARDS AND YOU KNOW, THEY BOOED OUTKAST BECAUSE THEY GOT THE FIVE MICS AND IT WAS LIKE THE SOUTH HAD SOMETHING TO SAY, YOU KNOW, LITTLE DID THEY KNOW THAT WE WAS COMING UP NEXT RIGHT BEHIND OUTKAST. SO WE CAME RIGHT BACK UP THERE ON A TOUR. YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING?
LOOK THOUGH, IT'S GOT TO BE ONE OF THE HARDEST SPOTS TO ROCK UP IN NEW YORK. SO MAN, IT WAS JUST TOUGH LOVE FOR US, BECAUSE NOT ONLY WERE WE BEING DISCRIMINATED AGAINST DOWN HERE IN THE SOUTH BY OTHER RACES, MAN, IT WAS LIKE OUR OWN FOLK DIDN'T REALLY WANT TO HEAR WHAT WE HAD TO SAY, MAN, BUT IT WAS COOL. IT WAS OKAY BECAUSE WE HAD LOVE MAN IN THE SOUTHEAST, WE HAD LOVE IN THE BAY. WE HAD LOVE IN THE MIDWEST AND LOVE IN TEXAS EVERYWHERE... WE JUST HAD TO CRACK NEW YORK. SO THAT'S WHY WE CAME OUT WITH SONGS LIKE “CELL THERAPY” TO LET THEM KNOW THAT, YOU KNOW, WE HAD SOME TYPE OF KNOWLEDGE DOWN IN THE SOUTH TOO. SO YOU CAN'T REALLY WRITE US OFF AS JUST, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING, STRIP CLUB MUSIC.
VALIDATED: YEAH, I CAN REMEMBER WHEN ALL OF THAT CAME OUT. UM, OUTKAST, GOODIE MOB. I REMEMBER SEEING “CELL THERAPY”, THE VIDEO THE FIRST TIME AND I HAD TO RESPECT WHAT Y'ALL WAS SAYING BECAUSE Y'ALL WERE ACTUALLY SAYING SOMETHING. IT WASN'T JUST FLASHING MONEY, CARS, GIRLS AND SELLING DRUGS, LIKE Y'ALL WAS ACTUALLY MAKING PEOPLE THINK. RIGHT. SO THAT WAS, I REMEMBER WHEN THAT WHOLE WAVE STARTED, LIKE I LOVED THAT WHOLE MOVEMENT AND OUT OF THAT WHOLE DUNGEON DUNGEON FAMILY CLICK, UM, LIKE COOL BREEZE AND SLIMM CITY’S CALHOUN, LIKE Y'ALL NEVER DROPPED A WACK ALBUM.
KHUJO: I MEAN IT WAS TALENT DOWN HERE IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? IT WAS JUST SOMEBODY JUST HAD TO OPEN THAT DOOR UP AND THEN EVERYBODY IN LIKE, WELL LA FACE RECORDS, YOU KNOW, THEY BELIEVED IN ORGANIZED NOISE AND ORGANIZED NOISE BELIEVE IN US.
YEAH, MAN, YOU KNOW, WE WAS ON LA FACE RECORDS AND EVERYBODY ELSE WAS LIKE RUTHLESS RECORDS, PRIORITY RECORDS, DEATH ROW RECORDS AND RAP A LOT RECORDS. AND THEY HAD , YOU KNOW, ALL THESE HARD NAMES AND WE COMING OFF ON A RECORD LABEL CALLED LA FACE RECORDS. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? SO WE DEFINITELY HAD TO FIGHT RIGHT THEN BECAUSE YOU KNOW, COMING OFF AN R AND B RECORD LABEL, BUT STILL LA FACE WAS THAT DOOR THAT BELIEVED IN US, IT WAS A MAJOR RECORD LABEL AND IT GOT US MAJOR LOOKS ALL OVER THE WORLD. SO WE WAS ABLE TO GO SELL 500,000 RECORDS AND THEN THE NEXT ALBUM WE PUT OUT, WE JUST KEPT SELLING MORE RECORDS. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? SO BIG SHOUT OUT TO LA FACE RECORDS, MAN, JUST FOR BELIEVING IN ORGANIZED NOISE AND JUST FOR PUTTING THEIR NECKS ON THE LINE FOR A SONG CALLED “CELL THERAPY”. NOT A CLUB SONG, YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING, IT'S THOUGHT PROVOKING.
VALIDATED: YEAH, DEFINITELY GET THAT. SO GOODIE MOB RELEASED THREE CLASSIC ALBUMS, IN MY OPINION, “SOUL FOOD” IN 1995, “STILL STANDING” IN 1998 AND “WORLD PARTY” IN 1999. WORLD PARTY HAD A MORE UPBEAT VIBE TO IT. WHAT BROUGHT ON THE CHANGE WITH THAT ALBUM?
KHUJO: WE WAS DEALING WITH DIFFERENT PRODUCERS AT THE TIME, ORGANIZED NOISE DIDN'T PRODUCE THAT WHOLE ALBUM. SO WE WAS DEALING WITH PEOPLE LIKE KANYE WEST. HE DID A SONG FOR US, CALLED “REBUILDING”. I MEAN, LIKE WE HAD DIFFERENT PRODUCERS TO COME IN AND HELP US. SO WE JUST WANTED TO KIND OF LIKE HAVE A GOOD TIME ON THIS ALBUM BECAUSE THE FIRST TWO ALBUMS WERE KIND OF LIKE SLOW AND GROOVY AND KIND OF LIKE SOULFUL. WE HAD BEEN TOURING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, MAN. IT WAS LIKE, MAN, YOU KNOW, WE WANT TO DO LIKE SOME UP-TEMPO SONGS. BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE DIDN'T LIKE THAT ALBUM BECAUSE THEY JUST FELT LIKE GOODIE MOB WAS KIND OF LIKE GOING AWAY FROM THE ORIGINAL MUSIC. BUT LIKE I SAID, WE HAD DIFFERENT TYPES OF THOUGHT-PROVOKING SONGS ON THERE LIKE REBUILDING. I JUST DON'T THINK PEOPLE WERE READY FOR GOODIE MOB TO LET THEIR HAIR DOWN. BUT MAN, WE HAD, TRAVELED ALL OVER AND MAN, WE WAS JUST HAVING A GOOD TIME. SO IT WAS JUST TIME FOR US TO, UM, LET OUR HAIR DOWN MAN AND REALLY ENJOY OURSELF AND JAM AT THE SAME TIME.
VALIDATED: AND LIKE YOU SAID, AT THAT POINT Y'ALL HAD SEEN NEW THINGS, HAD NEW EXPERIENCES SEEING THE WORLD. SO YOUR THOUGHT PROCESS PROBABLY CHANGED AT THAT POINT. AND I THINK AS FANS AND I'M GUILTY OF THAT, LIKE IF AN ARTIST COMES OUT A CERTAIN WAY AND YOU CLICK WITH THAT PARTICULAR WAY THAT THEY CAME OUT OR STYLE OR THE TOPICS THAT THEY TALK ABOUT WHEN THEY CHANGE IT UP, SOMETIMES IT'S HARD FOR THE AUDIENCE TO GROW WITH THAT ARTIST OR ALLOW THAT ARTIST TO GROW.
KHUJO: THAT'S RIGHT AND WE HAD JUST GROWN, MAN. WE WAS SOME ATLANTA, GEORGIA NATIVES... AIN'T NEVER BEEN TO JAPAN... AIN'T NEVER BEEN TO EUROPE... I AIN'T NEVER BEEN TO GERMANY. NONE OF THAT STUFF, MAN. SO, YOU KNOW, WE JUST FEELING DIFFERENT, MAN. WE WEREN'T AS UPSET AS WE WERE WITH “STILL STANDING” BUT WE WEREN'T AS INNOCENT AS THE “SOUL FOOD” RECORD, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? SO WE LEARNED A LOT OF STUFF, BUT WE SEEN SOME DIFFERENT THINGS AND WE DECIDED TO INCORPORATE IT IN THE MUSIC.
VALIDATED: DEFINITELY UNDERSTAND THAT. SO ALSO THE GROUP DROPPED GROUNDBREAKING SINGLES, INCLUDING “CELL THERAPY”, WHICH WE ALREADY TOUCHED ON. “SOUL FOOD”, “DIRTY SOUTH”, “BLACK ICE” AND “THEY DON'T DANCE NO MORE”. WHAT WERE THOSE STUDIO SESSIONS LIKE?
KHUJO: I THINK THAT JUST COME WITH US JUST BEING TOGETHER, MAN, AND JUST EVERYBODY COMING IN WITH IDEAS. LIKE RICO WADE WAS LOOKING AT A PUFFY AND MASE VIDEO AND THEY HAD THE SHINY SUITS ON AND THEY WAS IN SOME TYPE OF WIND TUNNEL WHERE THEY WAS FLOATING UP AND DOWN AND EVERYTHING. AND I WAS JUST LOOKING AT RICO. I WAS LIKE, “MAN, PEOPLE DON'T DANCE, NO MORE, MAN. YOU KNOW, ALL WE DO IS THIS.”
AND THEN WE LOOKED AT EACH OTHER AND WAS LIKE, OKAY, LET'S PUT IT DOWN, MAN. SO WE WENT STRAIGHT INTO THE STUDIO AND PUT IT DOWN. SO IT WAS JUST ABOUT RECOGNIZING AND OBSERVING THINGS, MAN. AND JUST REALLY BEING COMPETITIVE TOO AT THE END OF THE DAY, BECAUSE THE RAP GAME IS REALLY COMPETITIVE. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? NOT ONLY LYRICALLY, BUT ALSO, MUSICALLY TOO. SO IT WAS JUST US BEING COMPETITIVE AT THE TIME AND JUST REALLY GOING FOR WHAT WE KNOW, BECAUSE WE KNEW THAT EVERYBODY HAD THEIR FLAG IN EVERY STATE. IT WAS TIME FOR ATLANTA, GEORGIA, MAN TO REALLY PUT THAT FLAG UP ON THE MAP AND JUST OPEN THAT DOOR, MAN.
VALIDATED: RECENTLY YOU DROPPED “FEED THE LIONS VOLUME TWO”, 14 TRACKS, FEATURING NUMEROUS ARTISTS. SO THE SELECTION PROCESS, DID YOU INITIALLY GO INTO IT WITH ANY ARTISTS ALREADY IN MIND?
KHUJO: WITH THIS VOLUME TWO, YEAH, BECAUSE WHAT I WAS DOING WAS I WAS DOING A SOUTH SIDE SHOWCASE OUT HERE WHERE I STAYED AND I WAS INVITING INDEPENDENT ARTISTS TO COME OUT, YOU KNOW, DO THEIR THING, MAN. AND THEN IF THEY WON THE CONTEST, THEY WOULD WIN A SLOT ON “FEED THE LIONS, VOLUME 2”. SO A FEW OF THESE ARTISTS I HAD ALREADY HEARD THEIR MUSIC AND WAS LIKE, YEAH, I GOT TO HAVE THAT ON THE ALBUM. LIKE ONE SONG, “MOTIONS” BY A BROTHER NAMED DONVON ROSS. I HEARD HIS STUFF AT THE CLUBS. SO I WAS LIKE, MAN, I GOT TO HAVE THAT ON THERE MAN. AND THEN ANOTHER BROTHER NAMED WORDSMITH WITH “LOOKIN’ GOOD”, I HAD TO HAVE THAT. SO IT WAS JUST LIKE DIFFERENT FLAVORS, PEOPLE WERE SUBMITTING MUSIC TO ME ALSO. I GOT ALL THE SONGS TOGETHER AND I ALSO PUT A SONG ON THERE TOO. YOU KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING? SO IT'D BE LIKE WE COMING UP TOGETHER. I JUST FELT THAT SHARING MY PLATFORM WITH SOME INDEPENDENT ARTISTS IS JUST KEEPING THE CULTURE GOING, MAN.
VALIDATED: OFF TOPIC FOR A MINUTE AND I KNOW IT'S KIND OF CLICHE, BUT WHAT IS IT ABOUT GEORGIA THAT MAKES Y'ALL STICK TOGETHER AS ARTISTS?
KHUJO: MAN ‘CAUSE I THINK THAT THEY FEEL THE PAIN AS FAR AS BEING THE LAST ONES ON THE MAP TO REALLY MAKE AN IMPACT. YOU FEEL WHAT I'M SAYING? ‘CAUSE YOU HAD PEOPLE LIKE 2 LIVE CREW, THEY WAS DOING THEIR THING IN MIAMI. YOU HAD UGK THAT WAS DOING THEIR THING, THEY LOCKED DOWN TEXAS. WE HAD TRIPLE SIX MAFIA DOING THEIR THING IN MEMPHIS AND EIGHTBALL AND MJG DONATING. THEN YOU HAD CALIFORNIA LOCKED DOWN, NEW YORK LOCKED DOWN. SO IT WAS LIKE, HEY MAN, THE BEST WAY TO DO IT IS JUST FOR US TO JUST STICK TOGETHER. THEY CAN'T STOP EVERYBODY. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? IT'S JUST LIKE WHEN YOU RUSH SOMETHING, THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO STOP ONE OR TWO OF US BUT IF WE ALL STICK TOGETHER WE GONNA KNOCK IT DOWN AND ALL OF US IS GOING TO BE IN THE HOUSE. SO I THINK THAT JUST BECAUSE YOU KNOW, THE SOUTH WAS LATE COMING TO THE PARTY AND I THINK THAT THAT'S THE REASON WHY WE KIND OF STUCK TOGETHER, ESPECIALLY IN THE NINETIES ‘CAUSE EVERYBODY HAD THE SAME GOAL AND THAT WAS TO REPRESENT FOR THE A.
VALIDATED: SO BACK TO THE ALBUM, WHAT'S BEEN THE RESPONSE TO IT SO FAR?
KHUJO: I GOT A LOT OF GOOD RESPONSE, LIKE NEW ARTISTS, LIKE I GOT BIG RUBE, WE DOING AN INTRO CALLED, “CAN'T BE TAMED”. AND I ALSO PULLED A SONG I DID, I HAD IN THE STASH WITH ME, T-MO, SNOOP DOGG AND ONE OF MY PARTNERS FROM CALIFORNIA NAMED ANDRE THE TRUTH ON IT CALLED “PAINT WHERE IT AIN’T”. SO MAN, JUST FOLLOWING THE TEMPLATE OF HOW I WOULD PUT A GOODIE MOB ALBUM TOGETHER OR HOW I WOULD THINK THAT A DUNGEON FAMILY ALBUM WOULD BE PUT TOGETHER AND MAN, IT JUST FEELS GOOD, MAN. JUST DOING THE STUFF THAT YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WAS PUT HERE TO DO AND THEN INFLUENCING THE OTHER EMCEES AND PRODUCERS TOO JUST TO KEEP THE CULTURE GOING MAN. SO WE CAN ALL EAT MAN. SO I'VE BEEN GETTING GREAT RESPONSE FOR THE ALBUM, BECAUSE I GOT DIFFERENT PRODUCERS ON THAT. AND THAT JUST MAKES THE ALBUM THAT MORE DIFFERENT. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BE HEARING THE SAME THING. EVERY SONG YOU'RE GOING TO BE HEARING DIFFERENT VIBES. SO IT JUST FELT TO ME LIKE A GOODIE MOB ALBUM, BECAUSE IT'S DIFFERENT PEOPLE COMING FROM DIFFERENT WALKS OF LIFE. THEY GOT DIFFERENT OPINIONS AND DIFFERENT FLOWS. SO I JUST THOUGHT THAT WOULD BE A DOPE THING TO DO, MAN.
VALIDATED: YOU MENTIONED “MOTIONS” EARLIER, THAT'S PROBABLY MY FAVORITE SONG OFF THE ALBUM. UM, SO YOU HAD ALREADY MENTIONED “PAINT WHERE IT AIN'T” FEATURING T-MO, ANDRE THE TRUTH AND SNOOP DOGG. SO HOW DID THAT WHOLE COLLABORATIVE COLLABORATION EVEN COME ABOUT?
KHUJO: THE THING ABOUT SNOOP IS LIKE EVER SINCE WE MET SNOOP AND DOGG POUND, I MEAN EVER SINCE WE WENT TO CALIFORNIA... LIKE WHEN WE WAS GETTING BOOED IN NEW YORK, SNOOP WAS THERE AND HE STOOD UP AND WAS CLAPPING FOR US. SO I JUST DECIDED TO REACH OUT TO HIM AND SEE IF HE WANTED TO DO SOME MUSIC WITH US. AND HE DID THE SONG AND SENT IT BACK TO US. I MEAN, I WAS JUST BLOWN AWAY ‘CAUSE I WAS LIKE, WOW MAN, THE OG REALLY WANTED TO DO SOMETHING WITH THE GOODIE MOB. SO I THOUGHT THAT WAS DOPE.
VALIDATED: SO DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE TRACK OFF THE ALBUM?
KHUJO: WOW, IT'S A FEW OF THEM ON THERE, MAN. UM, IT'S ONE WITH TRAUMA AND NUT SKYWHATLEY CALLED “HOOD ROCK”. THE BOY MAN, HE WORKS. I LIKE HIS WORK ETHICS. BUT IF I HAD TO SAY IT WAS ONE I REALLY LIKE IT GOTTA BE “CURSED”. THAT’S HOT, I BE GOING OFF ON THAT ONE.
VALIDATED: YEAH, AND “CURSED” IS PROBABLY MY SECOND FAVORITE. YOU WENT IN ON THAT. SO WHERE CAN WE FIND THE ALBUM?
KHUJO: OH MAN, THE ALBUM IS STREAMING ON ALL PLATFORMS. WE ON SPOTIFY, WE ON DEEZER, WE ON TITLE. YOU CAN GO TO MY INSTAGRAM PAGE @KHUJOGOODIE AND CLICK
THE LINK IN THE BIO, DEFINITELY DOWNLOAD THAT WHOLE ALBUM. AND ALONG WITH SOME OTHER STUFF THAT I JUST PUT OUT THIS YEAR CALLED “ECHOES OF A LEGEND” AND THAT'S JUST MY SOLO ALBUM THAT YOU CAN DEFINITELY CHECK OUT. AND UM, LIKE I SAID, WE STREAM IT ON ALL PLATFORMS TOO.
VALIDATED: NICE. SO I HAD TO ASK, DO YOU THINK THERE WILL EVER BE ANOTHER GOODIE MOB ALBUM?
KHUJO: OF COURSE! MATTER OF FACT, YOU MIGHT GET ONE BEFORE THIS YEAR IS OVER WITH.
SO WE JUST SHOT A VIDEO THIS WEEKEND FOR ONE OF OUR SINGLES.
VALIDATED: NICE, ANY LAST WORDS?
KHUJO: I JUST WANT TO THANK ALL MY FANS FOR HOLDING ME DOWN. UM, I'VE BEEN DOING SOME MERCHANDISE TOO, MAN. CHECK OUT SOME OF MY GEAR AND Y'ALL BE LOOKING OUT FOR SOME NEW MATERIAL COMING OUT REAL SOON. AND IT'S THE 25TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF OUR “SOUL FOOD” ALBUM ALSO. SO WE'RE GOING TO RERELEASE THAT THING TOO WITH SOME GOODIES MAN. SO BE ON THE LOOKOUT.
VALIDATED: WHEN YOU LOOK BACK ON IT, DOES IT SEEM LIKE IT'S BEEN THAT LONG?
KHUJO: MAN, IT DOESN'T, IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE IT'S BEEN THAT LONG FOR REAL. WHEN YOU HEARING PEOPLE SAYING, YOU KNOW, GIVING Y'ALL Y'ALL FLOWERS NOW, MAN, AND I BEEN LISTENING TO YOU GUYS SINCE I WAS THIS AGE, MY FATHER, MY MOTHER LISTENED TO Y'ALL. THEY TURNED ME ON TO GOODIE MOB. THEN I GET TO SAYING LIKE, YEAH, I SEE WHAT WE DID, MAN. WE ACCOMPLISHED SOME GOOD.
