AND I THINK REALLY LIKE WHEN I STARTED GETTING IN TUNE WITH LIKE SNOOP DOGG,  “DOGGYSTYLE”, THAT WAS REALLY THE FIRST ALBUM WHERE I WAS LIKE, “OKAY, IT’S SERIOUS.” AND THEN OBVIOUSLY “ILLMATIC” SET THE TONE FOR WHAT MUSIC WAS GOING TO BE FROM US, AT LEAST IN MY GENERATION. THE GENERATION BEFORE ME, THERE WERE A LOT OF GUYS FROM THE BRONX WHO WERE RELEVANT. YOU HAD THE KRS-1’S, JUST THE WHOLE ENTIRE CULTURE CAME FROM THE BRONX. WE’VE BEEN ABLE TO CHANGE A LOT OF LIVES, EVEN IF IT’S 1 SONG PLAY OR 1 INTERVIEW. WE JUST WANT TO SPARK HOPE AND LET THEM KNOW THAT THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM TO GET WHERE THEY NEED TO GO.
